Some time ago on a Tri-Athlon site, someone made a similar post. A lot on you guys may be thinking - What's the deal - Should I shave my legs for this (or maybe not)?? Come on, you've been thinking it if you haven't done it already - the bike pros definitely do.
So, my questions: Who's shaving the legs? Are you a Road Biker or Mountain Biker? Is there a safety element to shaving (I've heard if you wipe out, shaved legs have a quicker recovery and less chance of infection - true?)? For the women readers - Is this desireable? - Has your man taken the blades to the legs - and is it a good thing?
Realized I didn't answer my own questions --- so here it goes:
- Yup, will be bare legged - did it for my first triathlon and during bike season ever since - Road biker - Safety - Don't know - I guess I'd rather be safe than sorry - From my wife's perspective, I was surprised, she loves it ...
- Yup bare legged - got my legs waxed as a fundraiser and raised $600 - Road biker - Safety - yes it does make a difference and will make for 0.25km/h faster - If anything it makes applying sunscreen A LOT easier and faster - She stills needs to get used to it, thus she does not like it as much espcially when the hair starts growing back

- Nope..no razor hitting the guns here....Fuzzy legged - Mountain biker first and foremost (the cyclocross bike with road rubber I'm using for this Ride is as close as I get to "real roadie" ;) ) - As a first aider, yes I can see a slight advantage to shaved legs in the event of a wipe out, but considering what you're doing in getting your road rash, the difference is pretty minor. It boils down to pretty much just keeping your own hair from being embedded with the gravel. Though I do understand that there is less fuss and muss in applying sunscreen ;) -My wife loves the fuzz :)
