Hi I rode The Ride this weekend and would like to thank all the volunteers than put up tents, handed lunch packs out, pushed me along and and on and on. I meet a lot of great people Annie that I walked the hills with Robert that showed concern for me and asked if I was OK. But most of all I thank my friends that came out and rode with me.
This cannot be reiterated enough in my mind.... the entire crew/staff/volunteers were nothing short of spectacular.
Every single time you walked or biked by, they either said something positive or had a smile on their face. Not to mention the amount of organization, logistics, and planning that went into an event of this magnitude.
They were amazing and they deserve all the thanks they get....
I think I ate better at the pit/lunch stops, and the camp and finish line ceremonies than would have at home
Great job guys and see you next year.
And of course congrats to all the riders!!! 7.3 million to such a just cause. *EVERYONE* should be proud.
I was one of the sweep trucks - we had SO MUCH FUN!
and had so much fun egging you on! I even drove home with my left signal on because I was so used to the clicking of my hazards all weekend!
My driving arm is BURNED TO A CRISP! my butt's numb, my arms are numb (darn carpal tunnel), my truck is still steaming after the 1200km's I put on it from Saturday when I started driving at 7 and sunday when I stopped driving at 5pm. lol
it was Awe inspiring for me to watch all you riders pushing with what we could tell was your LAST possible shred of energy to PUSH your bike and keep it upright.
Hyper, I don't know if I saw you out there, but it was sure nice to know you sweeps had my back covered...
Not only from the riding perspective...though you are right because there were times where I wasn't sure what was left in the tank was enough for the next hill...but also from the medical crew perspective. I'm glad to have had sweep vehicles out there who could transport those who needed it (due to fatique or medical issues) or assist with getting the pro medics in when needed. After all, it would've be dang hard to transport someone on my bike :D
Cheers :)

I also would like to thank all the volunteers that put in countless hours volunteering. My daughter and my karate students (Team Calgary Budo) represented most of the crew members at Pit Stop # 3. I cannot tell you guys how happy I was to see them after riding the first 98 km on Day 1. They convinced me that their Sensei could finish it for the cause. And thanks to all the people who would come up next to me and kept saying "Keep it up Danielle, you are doing a great job". Without them I would never have finished those 220 km.
Glad you finished it as well. Day 2 was much easier as we finished in 4 hours. Are you signed up for next year? I have 10 more students who have committed themselves to either be Rider or Crew member next year. As Lua would put it, there is a boomerang effect going on.
Sorry Danielle, I didn't see you had written back. Yes I have signed up for next year and is looking forward to doing it all over again. I will see you there.
