Not sure if I've missed this information somewhere along the way, but has the route for this year's ride been confirmed? This will be my first year doing the ride and I'm very curious.
No confirmed route will be available until ride day but as things get closer they will give some hints and if nothing happens the route but nothing is set in stone until we ride it! The first year we were suppose to ride up 52st but do to a mix up in communication the construction on 52 st started at 6am instead of the expected 2pm so they detoured us... and it is for reason like that they don't confirm the route until we ride it...
The Ride has only been in Alberta the last couple years (2009 + 2010). The first year's route wasn't bad, but it took the riders down toward the Crowsnest Pass and a consistent headwind....they tried a change last year to avoid it. Unfortunately, it put some of the hardest riding at the end of the first day :(
The Ride folks will come up with a tentative route and let us know with about a month to go (if they hold to what has happened the last couple years). There can be revisions at the last minute due to construction, road closures etc, but the general route will be what the give us near the end of May/early June.
