Not so far as I know. I did one in St. Albert last year and I never got a permit. Another great way to raise funds. I put an ad in the local paper saying that all funds were going to Cancer and it was very successful!
Check the local requirements....I believe the City of Edmonton has a permit you're supposed to get...it's like $5 or $10 or something little like that.
