BION, they can track every cyclist along the route with those. I suppose that if you get horribly lost for some unthinkable reason, or have a tremendous crash into a heavily foliated ditch, you could be found. Otherwise it's just a flappy little annoyance on top of your lid.
Are you sure about that? My understanding is that the could track who was out on the course (not where). That way they would know if there was still a couple riders out that they needed to find at the end of the day when the sweep was going through.
I think you're right. Mike. It's not to keep track of everyone while they're riding, but a safety feature in case people get lost or whatever. Not sure how it works.
I didn't see any of the readers at the end of day 1 at the finish line. I did see some at the finish line on day 2........it seemed to me that the chips activated recorded video messages at the finish line. Anyone else notice this???
