Edmonton and Area Riders

Hey I was just wondering if anyone knows any good routes in the city or north of the city.

Also I think we should get a training group started and have rides at least once a week. Is anyone up for this??

I would be interested for sure! I don't know anyone else who will be riding so it would be great to have a group to ride with. I know there are a lot of trails that will be good come spring.

I'm not up north often (I'm on the south side) but if you mountain bike, some of the trails are in pretty good shape while others are....not so good.

Kate and Amy, what sort of riding do you do? Mountain bike or road bike? I'm somewhat local and maybe we can organize a training ride or two (sooner or later, depending on what you ride and the weather).

Also, if you're a solo rider and riding in memory of someone, I have a team started that you're more than welcome to join.

Hi,

I live in the North area and would be interested in joining anyone else that wants to get together to train.

Hey Angele,

Welcome aboard... I've got my hands on a cyclocross bike now (think of a cross between a road bike and a no-suspension mountain bike) so I will likely be better able to swing up that way if you, Kat and Amy-Noelle are up for a ride sometime.

The Ring Road is in pretty good shape for training. Not nearly as much gravel as I would have thought.

Hello - new here. Regarding routes - H28 North is a good route. There is a hill about 10-15 km out. It's good training. There is enough space on the side of the road to ride. I've met only one other rider along that route so far. I've done a few rides out there to date. To Bon Accord and back to Edmonton is about 35-40 km, depending where you live.

Redwater - approximate 50km, good distance. I will do it once I'm ready for the distance there and back, hopefully mid May. For now I need to do another 30km distance away to make the return but I would like to try a different direction amd then a bit further. No destination in mind. Hope to head East, still need to plan. Today I'm going to wimp out and go to the gym, I think the stairmaster really helps.

Mike, Sorry it took so long to reply, I'm into mountian biking and have a mountian bike, but I'm currently looking for a road bike. But I figure now thats its so nice out, I have to make the transistion from inside to out, road bike or not. I'll be traveling the next weeks, but I would love to plan a ride for the beggining of May. what about the first saturday of May I think its the 3rd? Any takers, Maybe we could do the H28, or do some trail riding in the river valley?

I'm game for any of it. If we road ride, I'll bring the cross bike, if we're doing trails, I'll bring my mtb :)

Is anyone going to the orientation on May 26? Maybe that would be a good place for all of us to discuss planning a training ride? There seems to be interest here in Edmonton to get a bigger group together.

I hadn't planned on it, but it may be an option. Is that a Wed night? Where is it at? Maybe I might ride down and visit.
