Is a Fixie possiable?

Hi everyone,

I'm a mountain biker and I'm new to road bikes. I'm kind of on a budget right now and need to get a bike for this ride. I was hoping to keep the price under $700.
all the road bikes are above $1000 and I can't afford that.  So,  I'm not sure what bike to get .... . I was looking at a Kona paddy wagon which is a single speed... and is also the only bike that fits my budget... I'm wondering .... Is the ride possiable on a single speed ?

Any sugestions?

Thanks.

Hey there

Well I am not sure I would do the ride on a single speed bike, however I will give my support behind the lower priced road bikes at Canadian Tire.  I usely do more mountain biking and have the good bike for that, however I have a 24 year old road bike that I have been using and traing on and I keep up with the guys I have been riding with that have the expensive road bikes.  So if you don't want to spend to much go for either a bike from canadian Tire or even Costco on line has a lamborghini road bike for around $469.

Hope that helps
John

oh , and the Kona Paddy wagon has a flip flop rear wheel , so it could be a fixie or a normal single speed.
