Wayne, very true....the classic movie stuff is too loud for around camp....chainsaws, drills, nail guns, firearms are all just too loud. Of course, the big blads (swords, scythes, axes and such) are a little unweildly for inside a tent ;)
(Of course, everyone please realize that this is all in good fun and I have no intent to harm Morrisjo...we're just poking some fun at my screen name ;) )
Morrisjo, tasers are fun ;) Just make sure I'm wearing something where the barbs have a chance. :D
Lori...I kinda know the feeling....with moving, I was off the bike for almost 2 weeks. I'm just happy I've had a chance to get some km's in these last few days.
Also, if anyone is still looking, I believe Triman is still looking for a roomie (or is it tentie, in this case?) :)

Well guys I got my tent assignment... and it(the ride) is so so close .... my tent is A31 if that makes sense to anyone else.... I took my bike and got the tightening of all the gears and brakes ... had the chain checked because it was slipping... put on new tires and tubes... and then went for a spin ... sweet .. is all I have to say ... my knee is still hurting and I am going to feel it on the ride.. but I will make it!!!! see you all soon!!!
Hehehe....well, tonight I did a bunch of wrenching on the bike....new chain (wow, I stretched the stocker a bit in 650 km!), everything is clean and lubed, saddle is adjusted and tightened, new mount for the GPS (broke the last one...grrrr) and packed the panniers.
Oh...one of the pannies is my first aid kit ;) Gotta be able to patch Morrisjo up if I can't control the psycho-ness ;)
The info package we got said that we would be e-mailed by yesterday our tent assignments but I haven't received it yet. I already have a tent-mate that we picked each other on-line, but is this tent assignment supposed to be our tent number or is this assignment for those who have no sleeping buddy? Just wonderign if anyone has an idea before I call and ask a dumb question.
Just got off the phone and apparently a lot of people do not have their tent assignments yet. They are getting another office involved in trying to get everyone their tent numbers today. If you don't get it today, they will have the list at the check-in tomorrow.
I didn't hit the $2500, so I had to commit to the difference as of race day. Because of this, I was unable to do the tent check in online. I guess they just assign a random tent mate saturday ?
btw - Psycho Mike it sounds like you might be scaring your potential tent mate. Perhaps a bit of small talk would put him at ease on saturday. Just light conversation stuff like "killer uphills today eh ? " or "does this rag smell like chloroform to you ?"
And being an accountant with some free time this afternoon, I found that the teams on the website raised just over $4.6MM. There are a bunch of individuals who aren't on teams who don't show up on the list so I'm guessing the Alberta crew came close or topped the BC total of $6.9MM. And there will be a bunch of people doing top ups tomorrow to ride and/or dropping off more money ... like me with a few hundred more to add to my total. So I'm going to go out on a limb and say we walloped the BC total.
That's okay I ended up falling asleep pretty close after getting into camp and then not waking up till later on day 2... i fell behind and ended up being last rider for a bit because of an injury but fortunatly finished anyways, sorry for not meeting you
Hey Steph, Sorry I missed you at the end ... I only ended up riding about 45K on day two... and medical didn't even want me to do that much due to the knee... what injury for you? i hope that you are good... you were a great tent mate.. thanks for your support!!! Take care!!!
I'm happy you got the 45 k in, excellent job! I ended up twisting my wrist pretty bad around 20 k and had to have it taped up for the rest of the ride, pretty sore but i'm not complaining it was worth it! I am actually thinking I will be back next year!
Steph, If you come back next year I would love to have you for a tent mate again!! And I don't know if you know how much your support meant to me Sunday morning! I was hurting real bad and didn't want to even get on my bike. So if I didn't say it before thank you!!!! Tammy
Hey all. Wish I could have met some of you out there. I actually came by your tents but no one was there. I think there might have been someone in Red's and Tammy's tent, but did not want to disturb (sounds like you were sleeping!). Wish I could have met Mike as well. Worried that we have not heard from Morrisjo ... not assuming anything there Psycho! Anyhow, had a blast and sorry to hear about the injuries.
Okay you can call off the blood hounds I am still alive. After it was all over the family and I headed to the Ramada Inn at Pincher creek and stayed there as it had a pool and hot tub. Then Monday headed to waterton just to peddle on a bike for 4 that the kids wanted to go on. So now I have returned and I will just say that the Pyscho was a great tent partner as I had arrived and dumped my stuff in the tent, he went and pumped up my mattress for me, so a true good Pyscho.
That was me you probably heard sleeping, I felt bad for not meeting everyone but I was so tired I went to bed really early (told you I snore.)
Morrisjo, glad to hear you're alive and that Psycho was on his best behaviour
Tammy, you're very welcome, thanks for helping me as well with getting my chain looked after. I am very proud that you biked as much as you did with the amount of pain you were in, good job on keeping on keeping on!
