Slick tires for MTB.

Hi , everyone .

I need a set of slicks for the ride on my MTB. I'm  thinking speacialized Fatboy 26X1.25

Heard that they are pretty nice , but very slippery one it hit's water and sand.

So... I'm wondering if I should go with SLICK slicks or ones with grooves.

any segestions?

Thanks!

My personal favs right now are Ritchie Tom Slicks. I've done an epic road ride with them and found they did well (26x1.4" @ 90psi), plus they had grooves that kepth them a bit nicer on any sand. If you're near a MEC, they may be worth giving a look.

I would recommend the Specialized Nimbus. They have a little tread and work great on my commuting ride... I've done 78 k on them in one go without any hint of a problem. My riding partner uses Armadillos, and the only problem he had is that if you happen to pick up a nail, pulling the b@st@rd out of the tire is next to impossible...

Can't beat the Ritchie Tom Slicks for value.  The Continental Gatorskins look & feel prerry fast but are 2-3 times the price.  The Tom slicks give you the best tire pressure that I am aware of.

I've seen a 26x1 in a Specialized tire....don't think it went any higher in the pressure, though. If you go for a higher pressure slick, make sure your rim will take it...a wheel failure would not be fun.

The Gatorskins are pretty good (I use a set on my cyclocross bike for commuting)...but because my rims will take it, I still like the Tom Slicks :)
