They can join as individuals but they need to specify that you inspired them to join. They also need to get to the minimum fund raising amount to ride to be counted toward your ambassador status.
Well, regardless of if you all went your separate ways, formed a team or joined other teams, you (for getting them to sign up and them making the minimum) would be recognized as a bronze level ambassador :)
Of course, you could always join up with the team I've started ;) (Shameless plug, I know....:) )
