Nice to meet you Bryce!
And Mike you never let us forget why it is Pyscho Mike!  I am so glad to hear that you have reached your minimum!!! Congrats!!! Way To Go!!!!
I am trying to reach mine and having some problems but I am not giving up or giving in!!!! I figure with the donations not yet recieved at the office that I am up to about $1407.00... so that means a little less then $1100.00
Fingers crossed on the jerseys!!!

Hey everyone!  Hang in there you'll make it, make sure you ask everyone you know.  Even people you know that you wouldn't expect a donation from, they will surprise you.  I know, I had a couple of people surprise me with what I considered very large donations.  One is a very good friend of mine and I actually asked her after the fact how she was able to do that and she mentioned the monthly payment plan and honestly I never even considered that as an option.  Alot of the people that I know don't have deep pockets and you know what, I think that if I had approached them with the payment plan option.  I may well be at my goal by now.  Perserverence is the key, keep asking.  I have 37 sposors I think and I think that I approached close to 100 people.  Don't be discuraged there is still time.  If you have your tour wrist bands and tee shirts, wear them every where, they do attract alot of attention and I know myself that I owe a few sponsors to those items alone.

I just had a thought that might work that would be fairly cheap and easy to do.

Could each of us make a nice flyer and go to Staples or something like that and get a hundred or so printed and hit a large shopping mall some were and put them nicely under some windshield wipers?  wouldn't take long to drop a hundred flyers or so and if you get 2 or 3 sponsors from that then I would consider that a success.  Any thoughs?

I have a template of something like that, which could be personalized by all of us if we think that would be acceptable.

Please excuse any spelling or grammer errors, was never my best subject.

Hey Bryce, welcome to the team. Looking forward to meeting you.

Mike, you will always be "psycho" in my heart man, & congrats.

Ladies, keep up the good work. We will all make it in the end.

Dale, I like your idea for the flyers & have printed a bunch off. I plan to hit the malls this weekend while I'm out shopping.

Well, yesterday was a little longer ride for me. I decided to do some "big ring" stuff and hit the Henday for a faster paced roll. Millwoods to Cameron Heights was only about 40 minutes. Katy, if you think Whitemud Creek down in the Terwillegar area is a good climb, you'd have fun with the Cameron Heights - Terwillegar bit...not quite as steep (though not by much) but a lot longer.

My only complaint is that my cross wind shifted to a headwind for the last 1/3 of my ride :(

Oh well, at least I put another ~55 km under the wheels.

Wow...I just realized that members of our team account for over 1/2 of the total number of posts on the entire Ride forum.

Aren't we just the "Chatty Cathy" types smile

And no comments from the peanut galley about me being almost 30% of the total myself...it's called "psycho babble" and it's allowed, okay!  biggrin

No word from the sponsor guys....so I'll get the ball rolling on patches.

Woohooo!! 4 Riders so far and a bunch closing in. Once I get the cheque in hand from work, I'll spread it to those I can.

I should see a sample patch later this week too (yes, they can and will be ready to go before the ride and I'll bring a sewing kit if I need to).

I guess I should get around to painting the plastic swords I picked up around Halloween...looks like we're going to need them :) I may bring some arrows and stuff them out the back of the panniers I'll be using (did I mention I was an archer too?) :)

With Annette's damsel hat, we'll look the part :D

Hey Mike if you are staying at my house I have a sewing machine and we could do anyone who needs to be done the night before the ride... just a thought that is if some don't get sewn on before!  I think that I am up to $1582.00  just waiting for it to all hit the office... that means that I only need 912.00  woohoo

If you've done on-line check in by June 11th, they should mail them out. Last year I think I had mine by the 15th.

Hey Guys,

Did you see the poster and ribbon idea?  Could I do that?  I mean could I do that at our hot dog sale?  I will bring extra and we could let whom ever is working solicit donation thru ribbon sales?  I am bringing posters, ribbon, permenant markers, and stop fray for the ribbon... so ... I will be leaving for Edmonton tomorrow afternoon ... so if anyone has an opinion ...

Tammy

Thank you fearless leader!!!  You know who you are and just what I am thanking you for!

I don't need thanking....I'm just keeping my word. Any extra I have control over, I'm going to help as many of the team get to their minimums as I can.

Oh...by the way. Tomorrow I'm not going to be able to ride out to the hot dog sale. I'll be at an Investiture ceremony for the Order of St. John in the morning, but I'll come out for the afternoon.

Hopefully I won't blind anyone with the "extras" they want me to wear :)

Hey all,

Just passed the minimum today.  I have mailed in 2353 by the mail in deadline, and have more than required for the min at home now.  Is there any way to complete the online check in now, or do I have to wait until the morning of the event in Calgary?

Congratz Bryce!

If they get everything in and processed before the 11th, you can use on-line check in and they will mail your jersey and some additional information out to you.

If it is after, I think you can still do the on-line check-in, but you'd need to pick up your jersey at the bike check-in or on first day (I think). Bradley or Vladko would know better than I do. Maybe drop them a quick call.

Bryce,

I also believe that you can put your credit card up as a promise that you will reach your minimum... it will cost you $2.00  but you will be able to do your on line check in right away and when the amount hits your honor roll your credit card will not be billed any more then $2.00 ... but call Bradley or Vlatko to double check...

I hope this helps

Tammy

Well, I didn't get to spend as much time out at the Hot dog sale as I hoped :( But I got a consolation prize of being on TV for my being at the Legislature.

Oh well.

Glad so much is coming together...now if we get that cheque in from composting (come on Postie!!), I can get a bunch out and we'll be set :)

No word back from our MIA members...I'll try calling this week. I'll update the team total to reflect what we've got and the goals of the folks who are active (it keeps defaulting to the total of everyone's goals, but I'll keep beating it back down until it sticks)

I called Vanessa(cleanit-green it gal) last week. I just e-mailed her today-asking if she can confirm amount as we await cheque.
Don't blame it on the posties!

This is an awesome team...thank you all for your patience (this is my first time attempting to be a team captain...hopefully I haven't been too rough around the edges) and your hard work.

Now if only we could get some weather to cooperate, right?

Well I have good news... I went to pick up what I thought was going to be (what I was told was going to be) a $100.00 donation ... and guess what it was a $250.00 donation... so that only leaves me $3.00 short ... lol ... I think that I can manage that ... SOOOOO that means I have met the minimum!!!!!!!  YEAH!!!!

Tammy

PS ... Who ever pissed mother nature off... go and apologise!!!! and I mean right now!!!!!

AFAIK, I am not an ambassador. I think folks would have had to put in that I inspired them to sign up for the Ride when they registered for that to count...I don't think it could be done at this point (i.e. if one called Brad or Vladko and wanted to add it at this stage). But thanks for the vote of confidence on it...maybe it is something I will try for next year.

On a personal note, though....rough calculation of $6,050 last year, $2,850 this year, $900 spread around plus my "share" of fund raising that I've left in to spread around put me over $10k I can account for toward this cause in the last 2 years. Day-em! I never thought I could do that!!

On team business: I'll be looking at the samples for the patches tomorrow...I'll keep you all posted there. :) Sounds like they have a couple options for consideration. Don't worry, I'll get the best one :)

Awwwpoop!

I guess I should read the fine print, eh? I guess I may qualify for the funky, other colored jersey thing (Ambassador).

I don't know if that team captain thing is new this year or not...last year I didn't have such a great group of people to work with until I folded my team of one and joined another team.

You guys (and gals) all rock!

Would it ruin my "psycho-ness" if I get a little choked up now? :D

Well, not as far as I wanted, but not too bad a ride. After the "Honey do" list etc., I got out for a late ride yesterday (left home about 7:15 pm). Out along the Henday to the Red Willow Park in St. Albert and back via the 124 St. bike corridor. Only ended up being 76km but with the wind, it felt like a bit more than that. Getting back in the dark was interesting after a long ride.

I've got an adjustment to do to my rear derailleur (it gets noisy in a couple gear combos....I likely have it set so the idlers get a little too close to the cassette) but other than that, all went well.

Damn that wipe out hurt ... and still hurts ... at least the trailer with the grand daughter stayed up right ... and she was unhurt... but damn I hurt right now ... time .. less then two weeks ... ...

awwWow, what a great weekend to ride with sun and of course wind.Went out on Saturday for a 100 km ride (thanks to Matt and Dale and Mike (my husband) for the company. Then left for Canmore on Saturday around 5:30 pm.(my son had races at the Nordic Centre) and Mike and I biked to Banff, then went up to Lake Minnewaka, then back down the busy highway to the Three Sisters above Canmore. Hot, hot, after doing 84 km could not do any more hills. I was done for the day.hmm

Good job Solange! I'd have loved to have gone further too, but in leaving late, it was quite dark heading home....plus an extra 10 km against the wind would have been torture.

Now I just need to was up the bike so that the Mrs. will let me put it in the back of the new car for the trip down :)

We did a quick 50 k yesterday from NW calgary to Cochrane and back. I tell ya the Cochrane hill is super fun to go down 60-70 km/h but just ugly ugly ugly to get back up.
Being it was really nice +27 made for a very nice ride overall though.

I know that feeling....Sat was a wind that made it feel like going uphill all the way back :) I'm glad I waited until it was a bit cooler, though...+27C is warm pedaling :)

Oh....I stopped in at The Embroidery Company today to examine the proofs. There are limits to what they could do with the text, but the overall effect is the same as the jersey shield (slightly different font).

I've placed the order, so we should have patches for next week (monday or Tuesday). Plus, if we do it again next year, they will keep the pattern on file for us so there won't be any set-up charges next time :)

Sorry I missed you yesterday Jason .... I forgot my helmet and had to go back for it and then by the time I made it to the ride start site ... you guys were gone... so I did a 3 hr ride with my daughter and grand daughter ... boy oh boy .. . does that extra 50lbs on the back of the bike make a difference .... I was wiped by the time I got home... not to mention hurt from a nice mud induced wipe out...lol...

I am going to do Nigel's 70K ... Calgary to Bragg Creek ride next weekend ... are you doing that one?
