Well, I've now had a chance to see this year's jersey. Sugoi did a pretty good job. The Yellow/black/silver thing will take some getting used to, but overall pretty nice. It'll be interesting to see some blue (assuming they have some in my size when the time comes).
Any thought yet about meeting up the morning of the ride. I am coming in from Moose Jaw on friday the 25th and will be staying in NE Calgary. Not too sure of how to get to spruce meadows from there although probably via the deerfoot 500 at 5 am ish is prob what will happen. Not exactly sure where spruce meadows is although south on 22X I think. Any ideas of meeting at a timmys or something somewhere relatively close?
This is Tammy. I also live in the NE. Marlborough. I having a bbq Friday night and I figure we could all get our patches on too... You are welcome to join if you want. Are you dropping your bike off Friday night? Email me if you would like my address or any further information.
Hi all, Good news or bad news (depends on your outlook). I have been chosen to return to work in Jamaica for another month . Unfortunately the TENTATIVE date of departure is June 26 as we have to be there for work on June 28 . It doesn't look like I can get a different flight on June 27, so if these dates firm up I won't be going on the ride
Hi Team, Sorry to hear from you Annette about maybe not coming on the ride, But Jamaiica.. Wow... As far as dropping the bikes off at Spruce Meadows, last year I did but this year I will keep my bike until Saturday morning because we won't make it there before 8:00 p.m. . As we can park at the same place we are starting I don't think it will be a big deal. We have to drop off our bags first with the "truck carrier at Spruce Meadows, then I think they will serve breakfast like last year outside. Then will get our bikes from our vehicle... But if you can make it to the drop off before 8:00 p.m. I'm sure it will make things easier on Saturday morning. If we can have other team member's cell phone, we could call on Saturday morning once we get to Spruce Meadows and meet at a certain spot... What do you all think.... Solange
Just getting caught up on all this now from being gone in Vegas. Annette, that sucks that you may not be able to do the ride but I agree with Solange...Jamaica! Wow! That will be so exciting! Thanks for all your help throughout though.
I agree that cell numbers might be good although there are a few of us staying in the same place Friday night so that will make it a bit easier.
I sent a group email just now trying to get things finalized so any help with that would be appreciated.
Sheesh, I finally get a chance to get out on a bike today and I wipe the mountain bike on some mud on a ramp of a paved trail. Talk about having one of those days!!
The bike took some damage (as did my rain gear...Grrrr!) and I'm going to have matching scars on my elbows now :( I'll likely have a little road rash and a big honkin' bruise to show off next weekend at the Ride. Thankfully I'll heal and I wasn't on the bike I finished prepping for the Ride today.
*Grumble, grumble* Stupid contractor leaving dirt on the path! *Grumble* Stupid rain turning it to a thin layer of slick mud! *Grumble* Stupid front wheel going for a slide and not letting me know first!! Grrrr!!!
I'll have to put a game on the computer....I feel like blowing something up.
Hey Mike hope all is well with you today and Tammy too. Drink lots of water and don't wear lots of clothes is what I do. Lots of breaks as well. Did my final two practice rides this weekend, only 54 km each day. I actually had fun riding this weekend, not so stressed to do 100 km...My son had me practice changing tires tonight. Only blew 1 tube,,,I am bringing 2 extra tubes with me on the ride. Solange
Well, I'm gonna have a shiner the size of a $5 bill on my left thigh, I've got a nickel sized patch of skin missing from my left elbow and I'm a little sore...but I'm otherwise doing okay considering how well I don't bounce.
Tammy, get yer body temp down and hydrate, pronto! If you've got it, you need to cool off right away...heat stroke means you are cooking yourself on the inside. As for preventing it, take things easy (no trying to go supersonic on the bike when it is +40C), wear loose clothing that breathes well, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate (and not just water...if you're sweating, you're losing a lot more than just water).
Now...for business stuff, I haven't seen any objections to Katy's email regarding the compost sale, so I've filled out a bunch of cheques. I'll just need to confirm the hold-back time with the bank and when the cheque goes in, but for now, the values sent around are what I've made out cheques for.
For those who haven't noticed, David has withdrawn from the team.
I'm not going to make any sort of long, drawn-out comment on the situation other than to say I'm a little disappointed by the decision, but I think I can understand why.
Leaving friday morn at 7:30 and should reach Calgary 4 ish. Looking to go to Bow Cycle to pick up some new shorts, my wife informed me mine are a little holy. And I just want to check it out. Any other good shops for browsing let me know.
Is the team getting together anywhere that night or just saturday morning at the ride. If there are emails going out can someone add me to their list.
Thanks,

On a positive note matt is almost at goal! David picked his compost cheque up Tues, Solange received hers Tues. night, I added mine to my account. Packing tonight and getting ready to ride!
Woohoo. And it looks like we can top up Matt, so he's in too. Not too bad folks!! My hearty congratz all around. 11 out of 15 folks on the team as riders :)
I'll bring a small sewing kit for Friday night so folks can attach their patches ;)
You know what...I'm actually thinking I'm psycho enough to do this whole team captain thing again and ressurect the Crusaders for next year. Seeing as this motley group of folks did **so abso-flippin'-lutely outstanding** and all :)
I figure if you give me about a week, the team should show up for 2011 (I was too tired to dig out my form or card at the finish to re-up there and then). You thinking of joining us, Red?
Btw, it was nice to see you (if only for a moment) at the crew orientation ;)

I saw you day two on your bike as well, right near the beginning of the day!
I am thinking of joining your team and I find out this week at my doctor's appointment if I can start training again or if I still have to take it easy.
I signed up for crew with my friend again but I want to switch to rider if I can make it happen.
Just sending a note to tell you all that Dave, the one I rode for in the RTCC, my boss and friend, lost his battle with MDS & Leukemia on Friday night :(
Very sorry to hear of your loss. Keep your chin up and keep smiling, because you know that is what he would want. Keep on fighting! Some day a cure will be found!
Jen I'm sorry to hear of Dave's death. I'm glad you rode. A friend of mine just passed away from ovarian cancer-leaving her 2 children. It was a 2 year battle.
