So I got up Sunday morning worried about what the day was going to bring - then I caught a quick glance at someone's shirt which said in part: I can, I will, I AM - with that running through my head I made it up every hill! Thank you to the person wearing that - it was an inspiration to a complete stranger.
Must also thank my riding buddy who was waiting for me at the top of every hill so that we could finish the ride together.
I didn't have anyone waiting for me at the tops of the hills but I do know that it would have been SO MUCH better if I had. That is the one thing about the ride that I didn't like was not having someone to ride WITH. I was on a super team but everyone was riding at different levels so I did not have that 'support' there.
Hey Jen you could have waited for me ... I know I was way way behind you! And it did make a difference knowing that someone was waiting at the top for you! I know Liz did that for me! I didn't like the up hills but I sure loved the down!
Yeah, it is tough when you've got such a variety of riders on a team...I remember getting texted by one team member that he was done Day 1 at 2pm or something like that...heck, I was just getting to the lunch in Nanton.
Sometimes, all you need to do is find someone who seems to be at your pace and hang out for a bit...sharing the riding experience makes a pretty good bond and you'll find them cheering you on when you least expect it.
