So... I just signed up for 2011 after discovering a pamphlet at my store. I have a busted up foot, but would like to start training after I heal... anyone in Southeast Edmonton??? The sooner my fat butt starts training, the better :)
I'm located in the Meadows, and I'm always looking for a training buddy :) My team is not located close to me, so much of my training is solo, or with non-TRTCC-participants.
Starting this time of year until spring, I usually train indoors. I go to Millwoods Rec Centre for their spin classes, which are held Mon, Tue, Thur and Sat. Right now I can only do the Thur ones because I have class on all the other days, but I would love to have you join me if you'd like. Another thing I do to train is use an indoor bike trainer with my bike.
Where abouts in Meadows are you? I'm technically in Burnewood (Kiniski Gardens) so maybe a Melon Head and Cancer Crusader can get some training in this spring?
No, I won't try to poach you (too much)...you've got a great team captain and I wouldn't do that to her.
I'm in Silverberry, so just down the road from you. I'm definitely interested in some spring training!
And, yes, I do have a great team captain :) Stacie has become a dear friend of mine since I joined her team. She inspires me to do a little better each day :)
Well, Jo...it looks like we have a game plan for when we finally get ourselves out from under all this snow. I may do a fair bit on my cyclocross bike, but I'm doing the Ride this year on my mountain bike :) (I have to live up to the screen name, after all)
Hey Jo, the streets are starting to get a bit better....I may throw a set of cross tires on the Cx bike and start some outdoor riding again next week. :)
I've been thinking that a little later in the spring / early summer, we'll have to introduce you to the half-ring run (MW to St. Alberta via the Henday and then back through town) or the Tofield Triangle (Hwy 16 EB to Sec. Hwy 834, South to Tofiled, Hwy 14 WB to Wye Road (Sec Hwy 634) and back in to town). Don't worry, we won't start with those ;)
