Toronto Rider needs your advice (and someone to ride with)

Hello fellow Cancer Riders,

I am riding in my first Alberta Ride to Conquer Cancer this year, but by the time our ride comes I will have finished my 4th Ontario Ride to Conquer Cancer.

I wanted a new physical challenge this year, and wanted to see if I could stretch my fundraising efforts a little further.confuse

I've already met my fundraising minimum for Toronto, and I'm nearly there for Calgary as well, so I don't need that kind of help.biggrin

I'd love some advice about good routes from SW Calgary, and I am looking for someone to ride with while on the Cancer ride.

I will be coming out to Calgary on the Wednesday before the ride, and I want to do a couple of rides on Thursday and Friday (say 40-50km each) to stay loose and shake out the bike after travelling.

I am an active cyclist, riding ~6,000km/year, and I average 25-28km/h on solo rides.

If you are a similar cyclist (or know someone who is), please leave me message, or contact me by e-mail at jason.roth (at) rogers.com.

Thanks!

Jason

Welcome to the Alberta version of the Ride, Jason. We don't have quite the same scenery as the Niagra Escarpment or the Falls for you to look at....just the Rockies....but I'm sure you'll find them okay to look at too :)

I'm thinking you're looking for a raod cyclist to hang out with....I'm quick on my knobbies (mtb or Cx) but you'd drop me in no time :)

Hi Psycho Mike;

Thanks for the welcome, and I am looking forward to the Rockies.

Yes, I'm looking for a few roadies interested in riding (not hammering along, but actually enjoying the ride) together at the end of June.

See you on the road!

J

I'll be hard to miss, J :)

After doing the Ride the last couple years on a cyclocross bike fitted with slicks, I'm going for a bigger challenge...

I'm doing this year's Ride on a fairly burly full-suspension mountain bike (granted with slicks).

It'll be more challenging, but the granny gear will be nice and, well, my longest rides to date (including a Century and a double-Metric) have been on the mtb.

Check our Bikely.com or mapyourride.com, there are lots of rides that will help you. You could always ride with my husband as well.
