Having just finished the MS Rona ride this weekend and seeing how unprepared they were to handle the number of people that were very cold and wet, even with the use of Old's College and all of it cozy warm buildings.
It does make me wonder what the ACF has planned for the chain lakes accomidations if the current forcast for the weekend holds true (25mm of rain over sat - sun). I would like to know what they have planned to get people warm and dry, and keep them warm and dry in a wide open field full of nylon tents?
2000 people cold and wet that can't get dry and stay dry does not make for a happy weekend.
Dry out?!?! I did a ride up here on Saturday morning... 11oC, nice, brisk north wind, semi-torrential rain and the wonderful surf from the passing cars. Other than the chain rusting a little as it dried out, it wasn't that bad of a ride.
Just did the BC Ride to Conquer Cancer this past weekend and it rained both days. That being said on the site in one of the sections on "What to Pack" they're really good about recommending what to pack for all possible weather. There are massively huge big white tents where the entertainment is and such. As for staying dry at camp my best recommendation is expect it to rain and pack accordingly. I know the tents we stayed in out in BC which are the same ones we'll be in again this weekend out at Chain Lakes stayed nice and dry inside even through the rain.
